Master Digital Infrared Photography with Nikon Digital SLR
The Nikon D70 camera is ideal for digital photography infrared suitable, in particular on the strength of their settings. I take a few minutes to show what the camera settings, which will help me for my digital infrared photos and, hopefully, for the best results from your Nikon digital SLR cameras.
The first thing – you get a tripod, which is practically a must for perfect images in infrared and the infrared filter of your choice – I like the Hoya R72.
Next, take some time to plan your digital infrared photography. The time will do this in advance to help some of the uncertainties in digital infrared photography, which is only one photo in order, not as WOW! Photos.
As always with this sort of thing, there is no one right way to get results. But these passages are ones I have had the most success so far with my D70.
Image type
The infrared digital photographyactually prefer to shoot in RAW mode. Even if the native Nikon's NEF format is so versatile, that does not come easily, can lead to the quality of RAW mode, and all the imperfections always be edited with Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro
ISO
Good results can be obtained by increasing the ISO setting can be done, but I have better results when I left on 200 Otherwise, the noise is just too big – at least in my opinion. I am also a lot of editing in Photoshop, then a noiseProblem when working at high magnifications. Remember, unlike the infrared film in which the grain is part of the look and feel of digital infrared photos 'grain' or noise actually worsened the picture. When you add the look of the grainy film, do it in Photoshop or an image editing program.
White Balance
In my experience, the setting of white balance is a key to a good digital infrared photography with the Nikon D70. Since you're using a filter thatblocked the majority of "normal" light, white balance mechanism inside the camera, it is not possible with an accurate measurement of the color temperature of your environment. IR foliage reflects light, making it the most brilliant, a white part of the picture, you must calibrate "the D70 to let her know that the visible light, infrared green to white is the same.
There are several ways to do it.
STEP 1: The simplest method is to use the white balance with the D70 to the menu, openthe control button to flip the setting of white balance, and change 3 fluorescent. As for infrared photography, chances are you shooting in bright sun with a "red" filter correction by some false color seems to be the IR camera for the final images more "punch". I also have the red-hot approach works.
Number 2: Another way to set the white balance for digital infrared photography with the Nikon D70 should be amended to take a picture of green grassNoon in full sunlight. Only the grass – no feet, no trees, no sky. Just point the camera at the base of view from above, and click! Well, in the menu, you can adjust the white balance of this photo. Thus, the menu, select the white balance, go> Presets> Using select Photos> Image> use the wheel to scroll the image of 'grass (it is hoped that the only paper to make it easier). The menu should say: "put the picture>." Now you're ready to shoot infrared!
