How to Extend The Life of Your Lawn Mower Blades

Lawnmower blades cut much mechanical damage during normal operation. Grass is actually very aggressive. After a very expensive lawn mower and spend a lot of money, what is the point even with the old style sheet that has some extra features. It is now time to consider innovative ways to extend the life of your lawn mower blades.

This life extension can be made with a process known as thermal spraying. The procedural steps are as follows. The first step of thermal spraying lawn mower blade is clean them thoroughly with a solvent, such as acetone. Then mask the body of the leaves, where no cutting is done with a thermally sprayed tapes. These are usually a high temperature tape specifically designed for Thermal spray coatings operations. This set the surface of the blade a bit of cutting edges. The third plant is abrasive grit blasting to develop a mechanically roughened profile on the blade surface. Note that the thermal spraying coatings onto the surface by mechanical means, and thus a well-cleaned surface are bound with an excellent profile goes a long way in developing countries, a good mechanical connection.

Now is a bond coat preferably a material such as nickel, aluminum, or nickel-chromium-aluminum. Such a bond coat to improve and enhance the mechanical and metallurgical adhesion of subsequent top coat, as you would an ordinary primer before painting. Use of the upper layer, tungsten carbide-cobalt as the obvious choice, and deposits with the plasma thermal spray process. Enter an appropriate thickness. The next step is to remove all the masking. The next step is to grind the coating is applied properly to develop the sharpness of the blade profile.

Now you have a high quality tungsten carbide coated lawn mower blades. It is better to use a thermal spraying business, because the parameters that are important in depositing the coating, use, and they can be the difference between having good wear resistance, and not so good results. Again, as always, you can check with the original equipment manufacturer if your process is acceptable or not, because they are related clauses, guarantees and the like have. You can also report on the safety aspects involved.
